Statement of Equity

That Girl is SMART believes that every girl has the right to be S.M.A.R.T. (Successful | Magnificent | Authentic | Resourceful | and Talented. TGIS's core is to empower girls with step-by-step guidelines to support their positive development so they can live their highest self. When girls access services, resources, and support in their development, they can meet and address their emotional, core issues, and educational needs to create systemic change. We provide strategies that assist girls to overcome roadblocks and reach their full potential in five areas – education, self-identity, wellness (mental and physical), community, and leadership.

That Girl is SMART is committed to protecting each girl's humanity, uniqueness, and character (ages 6-18) that we mentor on the path of them becoming a viable commodity to their community, both personally and professionally. We developed our statement of purpose in 2018 for work in racial equity, where girls of all races and backgrounds are encouraged to use their voice to have crucial dialogues to create and affect change in support of racial equity and social justice within the communities in which they reside. Our statement continues to be updated as TGIS builds its practical applications to assist and address disparities in achieving this goal.
